TOUR ITINERARYDAYS 1-2: SOUTH AFRICA TO SHANGHAI Fly overnight with Cathay Pacific to Shanghai for a three-night stay. DAY 3: SHANGHAI Today we explore Shanghai Museum and enjoy a stroll along the famous Bund. This evening we feast on a banquet of traditional Shanghai cuisine. DAY 4: SHANGHAI Enjoy a full day tour of Shanghai visiting the Yu Gardens and the Old Town. We cross the great Nanpu Bridge to the Pudong area and explore the Xintiandi area. This evening enjoy a spectacular cruise on the Huangpu River. DAY 5: SHANGHAI TO GUILIN Today we fly to the city of Guilin for an overnight stay. DAY 6: GUILIN TO YANGSHUO Relax on the Li River as we cruise to the town of Yangshuo. DAY 7: YANGSHUO TO GUILIN Enjoy a visit to the local markets this morning before returning to Guilin where we visit the Seven Star Caves. This evening we enjoy a display of traditional cormorant fishing. DAY 8: GUILIN TO XIAN Visit Mt. Diecai before flying to Xian. This evening we feast on a traditional Shui Jiao Dumpling banquet, while enjoying a performance of Tang Dynasty dancing. DAY 9: XIAN Today we explore one of the most significant archaeological discoveries of the 20th Century, the life-size Terracotta Warriors. We also visit the ancient City Wall, one of the best preserved in all of China. DAY 10: XIAN TO BEIJING Visit the Little Wild Goose Pagoda, the Shaanxi Provincial Museum and stroll through the lively Muslim Quarter and explore the Islamic food markets. Afterwards we fly to Beijing. This evening enjoy a sample of the delicious local specialty, ‘Peking Duck’. DAY 11: BEIJING Our sightseeing today involves a stroll through famous Tiananmen Square past Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum, followed by a visit to the Forbidden City. DAY 12: BEIJING An often quoted saying in Beijing goes ‘you have not been to China until you have climbed the Great Wall’. Built over 2,000 years ago, it stretches all the way from the Shanhaiguan Pass on the east coast to the Gobi Desert in the west, more than 5,000km away. Walk along the wall, admiring the panoramic views and reflect on the enormity of the material and labour required for its DAY 13: BEIJING Today we enjoy a rickshaw tour through the traditional Hutong area and wander through the Summer Palace. Our evening entertainment will be a Chinese Acrobatic show. DAY 14: DEPART BEIJING Enjoy a last minute shopping spree at the copy markets this morning before we transfer to Beijing airport to board our overnight flight to South Africa. DAY 15: ARRIVE SOUTH AFRICA Arrive home this morning.
