TOUR ITINERARYDAYS 1-2: SOUTH AFRICA TO SAIGON Fly overnight with Singapore Airlines to Saigon for a four night stay. DAY 3: SAIGON Visit the Reunification Palace, War Remnants Museum, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Central Post Office, Cholon (Chinatown), Binh Tay Wholesale Market and Thien Hau Pagoda. DAYS 4-5: SAIGON Today we explore the Mekong Delta, visiting Thoi Son Island and the Vinh Trang Pagoda. Tomorrow we visit the famous Cu Chi Tunnels led by a Cu Chi War Veteran and continue to Tay Ninh where we experience the midday service at the head temple of the unique Cao Dai religion. DAYS 6-8: SAIGON TO HOI AN Fly to Danang and transfer to Hoi An, stopping en route at the Cham Museum, Marble Mountains and China Beach. Tomorrow we undertake a walking tour of Hoi An. Visit an old merchant’s home, the Japanese Covered Bridge, Hoi An Market and a local Chinese pagoda. The afternoon and the following day are free at your leisure. DAY 9: HOI AN TO HUE Drive over the Hai Van Pass to Hue. This afternoon take a cyclo ride to the Imperial Citadel. Visit Thien Mu Pagoda before enjoying a boat trip on the Perfume River. This evening partake in a cooking class. DAY 10: HUE TO HANOI This morning we visit the UNESCO World Heritage listed Royal Tombs of Tu Duc and Khai Dinh before flying to Hanoi. This afternoon visit the Ethnology Museum and enjoy a performance of the famous Water Puppets this evening. DAY 11: HANOI TO SAPA Today we visit Ho Chi Minh Quarter, where we see the Humble House on Stilts and One Pillar Pagoda and later drive around Hoan Kiem Lake. This evening we board our overnight train to Sapa. DAYS 12-13: SAPA Arrive in Sapa early this morning. Over the next two days explore different minority villages by foot. On the second night we board our overnight train back to Hanoi. DAYS 14-15: HANOI TO HALONG BAY TO HANOI Arrive in Hanoi this morning and travel to Halong Bay. Spend the night onboard a junk boat relaxing and watching the sunset over the bay. Tomorrow we continue cruising before we return to Hanoi. DAY 16: HANOI TO LUANG PRABANG Fly to Luang Prabang, Laos. Enjoy a walking tour of the town, visiting Wat Xieng Thong and Wat Visoun. Later we climb Phousi Hill for a panoramic view of the city. DAYS 17-18: LUANG PRABANG Rise early this morning to view Takbat, a Buddhist ceremony. Cruise the Mekong River to the Pak Ou Caves, visiting Tham Ting and Tham Phoum caves en route. Return to Luang Prabang stopping along the way at Ban Xang Khong. Tomorrow we visit the National Museum before we continue on to Kuangsi Waterfalls, visiting a H’mong and Khmou village en route. We also stop at Ock Pop Tok Weaving Centre. In the evening we witness a Baci Ceremony. DAY 19: LUANG PRABANG TO VANG VIENG Drive to Vang Vieng, visiting Phoukhoune, Ban Houn Xay and Kasi en route. Stop at Pathang and enjoy a boat ride on the Nam Song River, then continue to Vang Vieng. DAYS 20-21: VANG VIENG TO VIENTIANE Today we visit Tham Chang Cave before driving to Vientiane. Tomorrow visit Thongkhankham Market, Wat Si Saket, Wat Phra Keo, That Luang Stupa and the Patuxai Victory Monument. Later visit Talat Sao and the Buddha Park before we enjoy a traditional Lao dance show this evening. DAY 22: VIENTIANE TO PHNOM PENH Fly to Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This afternoon we see the majestic Silver Pagoda, Emerald Buddha and the National Museum. DAY 23: PHNOM PENH Today we visit the Apsara Association, where underpriveledged children are taught traditional dance and music. Also visit the emotional Killing Fields and Tuol Sleng Museum of Genocidal Crimes. Later enjoy free time at the Russian Markets. DAY 24: PHNOM PENH TO SIEM REAP Fly to Siem Reap where we visit Prasat Kravan, Sreah Srang, Banteay Kdei and East Mebon before watching the sunset from the summit of Pre Rup. DAY 25: SIEM REAP Drive to the fortified city of Angkor Thom. Start at the South Gate, continue to the Bayon, the Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. This afternoon visit the magnificent Angkor Wat. DAY 26: SIEM REAP August to February - High water season Cruise on Tonle Sap and visit a floating village then continue to Ta Keo and Ta Prohm. March to July - Low water season Visit Banteay Srei, Ta Keo and fabulous Ta Prohm. DAY 27: DEPART SIEM REAP Enjoy the morning at leisure before transferring to Siem Reap airport to board our overnight flight to South Africa. DAY 28: ARRIVE SOUTH AFRICA Arrive home this morning. |
