DAY 3: DELHIThis morning we visit Old Delhi; see the Red Fort, walk through Chandni Chowk to Jama Masjid and have a photo stop at India Gate. DAY 4: DELHI TO VARANASIVisit Gandhi Smriti and the Qutab Minar complex this morning before we fly to Varanasi later this afternoon. DAY 5: VARANASIToday we visit the Buddhist sites at Sarnath and enjoy a rickshaw ride to the ghats of the River Ganges to witness the Pooja ceremony of Ganga Aarti. DAY 6: VARANASI TO KHAJURAHOTake an early morning boat ride on the River Ganges and enjoy a tour of the city before returning to our hotel for breakfast. Later we fly to Khajuraho. Enjoy a cultural dancing show this evening. DAY 7: KHAJURAHOToday we tour the Western Group of temples. DAY 8: KHAJURAHO TO AGRATravel via Orchha to Jhansi where we board the Shatabdi Express train to Agra, arriving this evening. DAY 9: AGRAEarly this morning we view the Taj Mahal as the sun is rising. Later this morning we visit a marble inlay workshop and Agra Fort. DAYS 10-11: AGRA TO JAIPURVia Ranthambore - January to MayDrive to Bharatpur and board our train to Ranthambore National Park for an overnight stay. This afternoon we enjoy a canter safari. The following day enjoy a morning canter safari before continuing by road to Jaipur. Visit the Jaipur City Palace and Jantar Mantar. Via Bharatpur - September to DecemberDrive to Bharatpur for an overnight stay stopping at Fatehpur Sikri en route. This evening visit the Keoladeo National Park. Tomorrow we drive to Jaipur, upon arrival visit the Jaipur City Palace and Jantar Mantar. DAY 12: JAIPURStart the day with a photo stop at Hawa Mahal before continuing to Amer Fort and Choti Choper for local shopping. Enjoy a traditional dancing show this evening. DAY 13: JAIPUR TO ALSISARToday we leave Jaipur and continue our journey as we travel to the small desert town of Alsisar. DAY 14: ALSISAR TO BIKANERWe continue to Bikaner today. Upon arrival we explore the town dominated by Junagarh Fort. DAY 15: BIKANER TO JAISALMERDrive to Jaisalmer and visit Sunset Point this evening. DAY 16: JAISALMERThis morning we visit the fort built atop the 80m high Trikuta Hill. Later we visit the Sam Sand Dunes where we take a camel ride. DAYS 17-18: JAISALMER TO JODHPURDrive to Jodhpur. Upon arrival we visit Meherangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada Memorial, the museum located in the Umaid Bhawan Palace and the local market. Tomorrow we enjoy a jeep safari to Rohetgarh. DAYS 19-20: JODHPUR TO UDAIPURWe continue our drive today as we head to Udaipur, visiting the small town of Ranakpur en route. Enjoy a cruise on Lake Pichola this afternoon. Tomorrow we visit the Folk Museum, Mewar Art Gallery, Sahelion Ki Bari Gardens, the City Palace and local shops. DAYS 21-22: UDAIPUR TO AURANGABADFly to Aurangabad (via Mumbai). Tomorrow visit the UNESCO World Heritage listed caves of Ajanta, adorned with sculptures and frescoes. DAY 23: AURANGABAD TO MUMBAIToday we enjoy an excursion to Ellora Caves, another UNESCO World Heritage listed site. Later this afternoon we fly to Mumbai. DAY 24: MUMBAI TO KOCHITour the city of Mumbai today including the Gateway of India, the Afghan Church and drive along Marine Drive. Visit the Hanging Gardens, Chowpatty Beach, Kamala Nehru Park and Mani Bhavan. Stop at the Dhobi Ghat, the Crawford Market and Flora Fountain. This evening we fly to Kochi. DAY 25: KOCHIVisit the Jewish Quarter in Fort Cochin, see the cantilevered Chinese fishing nets, as well as St. Francis Church and the Santa Cruz Basilica. Later in the evening enjoy a Kathakali dance show. DAY 26: KOCHI TO NEDUMUDYThis morning we visit the Jewish synagogue in Kochi before driving to Nedumudy to board our overnight houseboat to Alleppey. DAY 27: ALLEPPEY TO KOVALAMWe disembark from our houseboat in Alleppey this morning and drive to Kovalam. DAY 28: DEPART KOVALAMVisit the Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Napier Museum, Sri Chitra Art Gallery, Observatory, Kanakakunnu Palace and Sree Moolamthirunal Shastri Purthi Memorial. After dinner transfer to Trivandrum airport to board our overnight flight to South Africa. DAY 29: ARRIVE SOUTH AFRICAArrive home this morning. |
